Aalto University Mikkeli Campus student Milla Immonen received the MUC Thesis Award – Võ Lê Thảo Nguyên and Nadezhda Ivanova were awarded by scholarships

The Mikkeli University Consortium MUC and the Bachelor’s Program in International Business offered at the Aalto University Mikkeli Campus award each year one of the Bachelor’s thesis students for superior performance in the research and writing process. This year the theme for the MUC Award was: ”Sustainability in Business”. The winner of the award was announced on 19 April.

The winner of the MUC Award 2024 is Milla Immonen. Her Bachelor’s thesis topic is Sustainability at the Core of Strategic Marketing Communication – A Case Study of Arctic Natural Products Ltd in the South Korean Natural Product Sector. Milla’s supervisor was Pasi Rikkonen from Luke – Natural Resources Institute Finland.

  • The thesis work by Milla Immonen contributes to a deeper understanding of sustainability practices and marketing strategies in the South Korean natural products industry, offering practical guidance for businesses aiming to enhance their sustainability messaging and market presence, supervisor Pasi Rikkonen says.

The thesis is very topical in analyzing sustainability integration and marketing strategies as a company case study of Arctic Natural Products Ltd.’s market entry to Asian markets.

This year 65 students completed the thesis process. The Bachelor’s thesis supervisors were asked to nominate one student from their thesis group whose thesis meets the criteria for the award. The winner was chosen from these nominees by the Program Director Joan Lofgren and the Manager of Academic Operations Mari Syväoja.

Suur-Savo Energy Foundation also awarded two scholarships, each 1000 euros. The grade of the Bachelor’s thesis must be at least 4 (scale 0-5) and the topic of the thesis must be related to the field of Suur-Savo Energy Foundation. The advocate of scholarships for the foundation was professor Tapio Ranta, LUT University.

Võ Lê Thảo Nguyên was awarded a scholarship for his study “Assessing the impact of feed-in tariffs and renewable portfolio standards on the development of solar photovoltaic development in Vietnam – Opportunities and Challenges”.

Nadezhda Ivanova was also awarded by scholarship for her study “Understanding the Effectiveness and Implications of Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) for Electricity Consumption Optimization in Finnish Residential Sector”.
